Drop to the ground now as you grab the ammo and armour nearby, then kill another large group of enemies before you use the next checkpoint. It's sort of like an extra life, but it's just a shame that you have to use all your gold cards at once. Shoot it out with bolts to make it explode, and jump onto the square to be shot upwards to the high platform to the left.
You take on the role of Daniel Garner, a seemingly regular guy, who has just been killed in a horrific car accident. Backtrack a little and head for the next checkpoint to ride another minecart. What is interesting is that this mode has two different versions — classic and modified just for this game. After the third general's defeat, he confronts Samael, having had enough of the fighting and wanting out of Purgatory, but Samael remains firm with Daniel that it is not that simple to leave and he must finish the task given to him. Watch out for explosive barrels falling from above - they can take a lot of your health and armour. And though I actually used Vitality when I played this level, you might want to go with Mercy to make the cart ride a lot easier.
Now you're being chased by gigantic piranha fish, and you have to quick-jump all the way around the sewers to the far end. The underworld is on the verge of unholy war, and you are but a pawn in the infernal battle. You're then confronted by a wooden walkway with obstacles swinging across it; but drop for the health and ammo first including the hidden boltgun ammo. Shoot more enemies in the windows to your right and take the ammo there but keep an eye on your health. Head right as you kill another enemy, then smash the pigs for some gold. The only thing about them that might give you trouble is that they take ages to spit out their souls when they die.
Instead you need to wait until he stops moving and opens his mouth wide. Drop onto it to pick up the heater and electro ammo, as well as 100 armour. The spider occasionally slams the ground with its front legs which hurts if it hits you directly. The player's objective is to get through each level, from start to finish, by slaughtering hundreds of monsters.
